American Sign Language

The College of Education provides courses in American Sign Language through the EPSE department. You may access these classes through GoSolar under the Exceptional Children category in the drop-down course list. These include:

For Area C Credit
EXC 1001- Elementary American Sign Language 1
EXC 1002- Elementary American Sign Language 2
EXC 2001- Intermediate American Sign Language 1
EXC 2002- Intermediate American Sign Language 2

For Area F or Elective Credit
EXC 4370- American Sign Language and Culture 1
EXC 4380- American Sign Language and Culture 2

For Graduate Credit
EXC 6370- American Sign Language I
EXC 6380- American Sign Language II

In the Spring of 2012 the Board of Regents approved ASL for foreign/modern language credit under Area C. On April 14, 2014 the Undergraduate Council of the College of Arts and Sciences approved ASL for credit in Area F. For more information, contact Linda King lking@gsu.edu in the OAA in A&S.

If you are not an active student at GSU, you may apply as a post baccalaureate student through the undergrad admissions office in the college of arts & sciences in order to register for EXC 1001, 1002, 2001, and 2002. You can reach that office at 404-413-2500 for more info.
